Beach Day Adventures

If you're ready to head down to the beach for some sun and relaxation but don't want to face the spring break crowds, head over to Sanibel this spring. Sanibel was recently named one of the top 5 best, less crowded beaches in Florida*, and it is generally less busy than Fort Myers Beach during the spring break season. 

Whether you're looking to relax, swim, shell, or stroll, there are several beaches in Sanibel from which you can choose. For the best shelling, head over to Blind Pass Beach, Bowman's Beach Park, or Lighthouse Beach Park around low tide, and you'll find an assortment of shells. Blind Pass Beach, in particular, is known for its great shelling, but swimming here is much harder because of the fast currents. Lighthouse Beach Park is great for catching the sunrise or swimming in the water. Bowman's Beach Park has many amenities and is great for fishing, swimming, and walking, but there is about a 5-minute walk from the parking lot to the beach area. As you head down to the Bowman's Beach area, keep an eye out for manatees that are often seen as you cross the bridge there. 

Sanibel Island beaches are dog-friendly, but dogs must remain leashed.  Bowman's Beach Park and Gulfside City Beach Park are two popular dog-friendly beaches in Sanibel.

Head over to one of Sanibel's beautiful beaches this spring (on a weekday especially) if you're looking for less crowds than Fort Myers Beach.
