DIY Christmas Gnome
If you’d like a fun and different outdoor Christmas decoration that your kids, grandkids, and neighbors will love, try this easy, DIY Christmas gnome that you can create using a bush in your front yard. Here’s how we created our Christmas gnome:
Supplies
- Red fabric that resembles Santa's hat
- White fabric that resembles Santa’s beard
- 2” white fabric that looks like the beard. It is sold on already cut to 2”.
- Chicken wire
- Tall, thin board
- Safety pins
- Hollow, half-circle shaped styrofoam
- Thin wire
- Scissors
Instructions
- Use the chicken wire to create a frame for the Santa hat that will sit on top of your bush. Place the board down the center of the bush, and then put the frame over the top of the board. The board creates more stability for the gnome’s hat.
- Wrap your red fabric around the frame in the shape of Santa’s hat with a seam in the back. Pin the seam.
- Use a strip of the white fabric to create a border around the bottom of the Santa hat and pin it in place.
- Cut the white beard fabric into the shape of a beard. Pin the beard to the bottom of the hat.
- Using the thin wire, tie the styrofoam to the bush underneath the hat to create the gnome’s nose.
- Optional…Using leftover white fabric, create a white ball to pin to the top of the Santa hat.
- Step back and enjoy your Christmas gnome!
