Summer Recipe: Fish Tacos with Coleslaw & Lime Crema
If you love tacos and seafood, you'll love these light and flavorful fish tacos with coleslaw and lime crema sauce. This recipe is great for summer, easy to make, and customizable to your preferences. The recipe calls for mahi mahi, but feel free to substitute your favorite white fish or shrimp instead. If you're not a fan of mango, try adding pineapple, and if you like spicy food, add some sriracha or jalapenos to the crema sauce. Be sure to try this recipe this summer- you'll be glad you did!
Ingredients (for around 5-6 tacos)
Fish:
1 lb of mahi mahi (or other white fish or shrimp)
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
½ tsp paprika
½ tsp cumin
½ tsp chili powder
½ tsp garlic powder
Oil or butter for cooking
Lime Crema:
1/4 cup sour cream
3 tbsps mayonnaise
1 tbls lime juice
1/4 tsp salt
Toppings:
1 bag of prepared coleslaw
1 mango
1 avocado
2-3 tbls cilantro
Lime wedges for the tacos
Tortillas (white or corn)
- Prepare Toppings: Dice mango and avocado. Chop cilantro and slice lime. Set each aside for the tacos.
- Prepare lime crema by mixing mayo, sour cream, lime juice, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
- Mix salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, chili powder, and garlic powder in a small bowl and lightly season mahi mahi with seasoning (or salt and pepper if you want a milder flavor). Heat 1-2 tablespoons of oil or butter (or a combination) over medium-high heat. Add mahi mahi and cook 3-4 minutes on each side until the fish is cooked through. Slice mahi mahi and set aside.
- Lightly oil both sides of the tortillas and cook them on a medium-hot skillet or pan for a minute or two (or to preferred crispiness) on each side.
- Prepare tacos by placing 2-3 slices of mahi mahi on the toasted tortilla. Top with coleslaw, mango, avocado, lime crema, and cilantro. Squeeze additional lime onto the taco to taste. Enjoy!
